Red Bulls interim head coach Mike Petke will be on hand at Jersey Shore Arena on Saturday, December 29, from 12-2pm to sign autographs, take photos with fans, and offer advice and skill critiques to players, all in an effort to raise funds for local soccer programs affected by Hurricane Sandy.

“One of the best aspects of playing professionally for 13 years was playing in front of the great fans from the New York, New Jersey area. I’ve always had, and still do have, the utmost respect for them,” Petke said. “If we can raise a few dollars to help support local soccer programs affected by the storm and I get to interact with some young players that love the sport, it will be an amazing day.”

Spend your Saturday with Mike Petke at Jersey Shore Arena and help support Hurricane Sandy relief!

The Red Bulls U-15, U-16, and U-18 Academy sides wrapped up their fall/winter season this past weekend with a collective 2-1 record in matches against Oakwood. The second half of the season resumes March 2013.

The Red Bulls’ U-15 squad suffered a tough 1-0 loss at the hands of Oakwood despite maintaining strong possession throughout. Scoring chances were limited in the first 40 as both sides entered the half locked in a scoreless tie. In the second half, Oakwood attacked with a higher sense of urgency and capitalized on an aggressive run from Israel Guerrero, who found the back of the net from eight yards out to award his side the ‘W.’

In an effort to seek vengeance for the U-15s, the Red Bulls’ U-16 side handed Oakwood a 1-0 loss in the final meeting of the fall/winter season. Brandon Tetro’s goal in the 34th minute held up for the win, despite the Red Bulls receiving a red card in the 50th minute. Gianni Carillo went the distance in goal for the shutout.

Kerlins Georges opened up the scoring in the third minute of the U-18’s match against Oakwood Saturday evening to help the Red Bulls to an early 1-0 lead. After Oakwood leveled the score in the 30th minute, New York’s Ethan Decker and Alex Muyl scored one each in the 47th and 73rd minute, respectively, to pump the Red Bulls’ lead to two. A late tally from Oakwood in the 76th minute threatened New York’s lead, before Decker scored his second of the match, and third of the season, in the 77th minute to lead the Red Bulls to a 4-2 victory.

As an added bonus, here's some video footage of Alex Muyl scoring two goals against the LA Galaxy two weeks ago during the showcase tournament in Florida:

Generosity Water Promo

Former Red Bull Jozy Altidore and his foundation have partnered up with and Generosity Water to help raise money in an effort to bring clean water to more than 400 people in a Haitian village.

Altidore's ties to Haiti are at the forefront, as both of his parents hail from the poverty-stricken country that continues to struggle daily with a lack of clean, drinkable water.

In conjunction with Altidore's foundation, will donate $1 for every person that selects to "join" their event page. The campaign runs through Wednesday, so be sure to spread the word quickly to get as much support as possible for this initiative.

Although Altidore left the Red Bulls in 2008 after two seasons with the MLS side, he has been in attendance at Red Bull Arena whenever his busy schedule allows and routinely shows his support from overseas via Twitter. He continues to find the back of the net for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in highlight-reel fashion, just as he did this past week with this finish against ADO Den Haag .

Injuries have hampered Red Bulls midfielder Rafa Marquez all season long, but he's done his part to play through it and ignore obvious discomfort at any chance he gets. According to head coach Hans Backe, that was the reason for Marquez's frustration when met with the tough decision of removing him from the match for precautionary reasons in Saturday's 1-1 draw at RFK Stadium.

“He was very frustrated with the calf. He has been having that, picking up that calf up a number of times this season,’’ Backe said after the team's training session Monday morning at Montclair State University. Backe also added that the injury appeared to be a "soft one," and that a possible decision would come following an MRI.

“I haven’t checked with the trainers today. Probably it has to be I would say a late decision, I would guess. I don’t think it’s a big one, but definitely we will have to wait until tomorrow to tell,’’ said Backe

Marquez has shown a similar drive to gut out his injuries, stemming back to the Sept. 22 match in New England when he insisted trainers tape up his hamstring on the sidelines before re-entering the match. Although Marquez did his best to battle through the discomfort, Backe was forced to removed him from the pitch for precautionary reasons after 35 minutes. The injury was later revealed to be a hamstring injury that kept him out for two weeks.

While the seriousness of this injury still remains up in the air, Backe remained hopeful that Marquez would be able to start for Wednesday's series finale at Red Bull Arena.

The Red Bulls gutted out a 1-1 draw on the road at RFK Stadium Saturday night to send the Eastern Conference Semifinals series against DC United back to Red Bull Arena for the finale Wednesday at 8 PM.

Own goals from Roy Miller in the 61st minute and Bill Hamid in the 65th minute drew the sides level in what prevailed as a back-and-forth affair between the heated rivals.

Goalkeeper Luis Robles stood tall in net late in the first half when he guessed right and stoned Chris Pontius' PK attempt inside the 33rd minute. The sides entered the half in a scoreless tie, but the tempo picked up in the second half, particularly following a red card incident involving DC United's right back Andy Najar in the 71st minute. Despite a strong possession game and strategic chances on goal, the Red Bulls were unable to capitalize on the man advantage, instead leaving RFK with the draw.

Both sides return to action at Red Bull Arena Wednesday night. The winner advances to the Eastern Conference Finals, while the loser will be forced to put a cap on the 2012 season. Get Tickets now to Wednesday's match at Red Bulls Ticket Central.
