U18s:  The U18s posted a 3-2 victory of U18 Oakwood SC on Sunday, May 2 in US Development Academy action.  The Red Bulls fell behind in the 25th minute when Oakwood scored from a 25-yard free kick. The team responded well to falling behind by immediately putting Oakwood on the defensive. In the 31st minute the Red Bulls were awarded a penalty kick after CJ Lyle (Stamford, CT) was taken down in the box. Dylan Mencia (Honesdale, PA) had the spot kick saved; however, Lyle was there to bang in the rebound. In the 44th minute, the U18s went ahead when Oscar Gonzalez (Clifton, NJ) headed in a Chris Garcia (Rutherford, NJ) cross at the back post. The lead was extended to 3-1 in the 62nd minute when Lyle took a pass from Gonzalez in the box and slotted home after rounding the Oakwood goalkeeper. In the 85th minute, Oakwood made it 3-2 from another direct free kick. Red Bulls goalkeeper Kevin Bonder (Whippany, NJ) came up with two vital saves in the waning minutes to preserve the victory for the U18s.

"We need to do a better job of closing out games,” stated U18 head coach Paul O’Donnell. “At 3-1, we were on the verge of putting the game away; however, we made too many errors in the attack and we need to do a better job of keeping the ball. However, we are very pleased with the effort today. Several players, most notably Mike Innocenzi (Franklin Lakes, NJ), gave a tremendous effort and competed on every play.”

Lineup: Bonder, Ehrenworth, Gallego, Adler, Garcia, Gurel (Battistesa 63') , Najem (Ahn 76'), Manosalvas (Lyle 12' (Velasquez 82'), Mencia, O. Gonzalez, Innocenzi).
Subs not used: Brown.
Goals: Lyle (31', 62'), O. Gonzalez (45')

U16s:  The Red Bulls U16s controlled most of the possession but were unable to capitalize on their chances during both halves, dropping a 2-0 decision to U16 Oakwood SC on Sunday, May 2 in US Development Academy play. The Red Bulls were down to 10 men in the second half when a U16 defender received a red card. Shortly afterwards, the Red Bulls conceded two goals and were not able to mount a comeback.

Lineup: Ceronne, Ceron (Akinyode), Alvarado, Orsaris, Kryzsik, Munoz, Haskel (Toher), Cruz (Castillo). Lagg,  Bziukewicz (Bartok ), Dorador (Miazga).

U14 Pre-Academy:  The Red Bulls U14 Pre-Academy team beat U14 Oakwood Pre-Academy, 6-0, on Sunday, May 2 in Oakwood, CT in a Northeast Pre-Academy League match.  Nick Innocenzi (Franklin Lakes, NI) and Amando Moreno (Perth Amboy, NJ) scored in the first half to put the Red Bulls ahead, 2-0, at halftime. The U14 Pre-Academy side continued to press the attack in the second half. Matt Mahoney (Poughkeepsie, NY), Clay Taylor (mendham, NJ), Moreno and Anthony Sare (River Edge, NJ) all scored to make the final score 6-0 in favor of the Red Bulls. Alek Gogic (Fort Lee, NJ) earned the shutout in his first start in goal for the Pre-Academy team.

U14 1996:  On Saturday, May 1, the Red Bull U14 1996 team defeated U14 Morris United, thanks to a penalty kick from Ezequiel Sandoval (Elizabeth, NJ). Alek Gogic (Fort Lee, NJ) went the distance in goal to earn the clean sheet, 1-0, win.

"It wasn't an easy game to play because the conditions of the field, but we were able to get the result," said U14 head coach Antonio Meza.

The U14 1996 side defeated U14 Oakwood SC, 3-1, on Sunday, May 2 to compete a perfect weekend. The youngest Red Bulls team dominated for long periods of the game.  Sandoval broke in behind of the back line and put the ball in the back of the net after receiving a perfect through ball from Juan Pablo Rojas (Piscataway, NJ). The Red Bulls took the 1-0 lead into the second half until Javier Gonzalez (North Bergen, NJ) connected on a perfect shot from 35-yards out to make the score 2-0. Some long balls put some pressure on the Red Bulls and Oakwood picked a miss cleared ball to pull on back, but the U14 1996 team kept up the pressure and found the third and final goal in the 66th minute. Dante Perez (East Windsor, NJ) tapped in a ball from a corner kick sent in perfectly by Rojas.

"The result was also very pleasing as we had Jake Leahy (Brick, NJ) and Nick Pritchard (New Egypt, NJ), two 1997 goalkeepers, making their Red Bulls debuts, playing a half each. Both looked very comfortable and made some key saves," said Meza.  "Overall it was a good weekend for us with two positive results and at the same time playing good soccer. We scored three goals (against Oakwood), something that we weren't able to do in the last three games, so it is positive to see that we are finishing our chances again."
