Red Bulls Play to 1-1 Tie Against Tecos

NY played to a 1-1 draw against Tecos in the final match of the Mexico preseason

Guadalajara, Mexico (February 14, 2012) – The New York Red Bulls completed their third preseason match with a 1-1 draw against Mexican side Estudiantes Tecos in Guadalajara, Mexico Tuesday night. The game marks the final match of the team’s preseason tour through Mexico. New York is now 1-0-2 in preseason play.

Kenny Cooper kicked off the scoring for the Red Bulls, when he ripped one from outside the box to beat Tecos goalkeeper Guadalupe Martinez in the 28th minute for his second preseason tally of the year. Tecos answered back with the equalizer shortly after in the 34th minute, when Gabriel Pereyra placed his foot on a loose ball and put it past New York goalkeeper Ryan Meara.

The teams remained locked in a 1-1 tie for the remainder of the match.

Red Bulls defender Roy Miller received a straight red card in the 82nd minute after some minor pushing and shoving broke out in front of Meara.

The Red Bulls return home to the New York/New Jersey area late Wednesday night. On Feb. 20, the team heads out to Arizona for the second and final stage of its preseason preparations.
