Red Bulls Reserves Top Toronto FC 3-1

Jose Angulo's one-goal, one-assist performance helped power the Red Bulls to victory

MONTCLAIR, NJ (Sept. 30, 2012) – The New York Red Bulls wrapped up their MLS Reserve League schedule with a 3-1 win over Toronto FC at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field Sunday morning. With the win, the Red Bulls ended the year with a 6-2-2 record and 20 points.

The Red Bulls took the lead in the 11th minute when Toronto FC’s Dicoy Williams deflected a New York cross into his own net. However, Toronto FC equalized 15 minutes later. Forward Keith Makubuya had possession in the left side of the penalty box and drove a pass towards the back post that Andrew Weideman slid in from close range.

New York then reclaimed the lead in the 36th minute. Jose Angulo won the ball in midfield and drove down the left wing before delivering a low cross into the box that Armando Moreno tapped home. The Red Bulls wrapped up the result two minutes from full time, as Joe Cullen brought down a Nicki Paterson corner kick and Angulo fired the loose ball into the top corner of the net.

In first team action, New York hosts the second of three consecutive home matches on Saturday, Oct. 6 when it takes on the Chicago Fire at 3:30 PM at Red Bull Arena. Toronto FC returns to play on the same day, facing D.C. United at 1:00 PM at BMO Field. For tickets to Red Bulls matches, call 1.877.RBSOCCER or log onto www.newyorkredbulls.com.
