Red Bulls Train Under the Guidance of Head Coach Mike Petke in Second Day of Workouts
The Red Bulls returned to the training pitch Thursday morning for the first of the day’s two sessions. Guys joked about feeling sore, but admitted that’s the whole point of preseason. The players know it’s a chance to get their legs back under them in preparation for the next training stint in Phoenix and, ultimately, the start of the season. With enough reps and time, the muscle soreness will begin to slip away as the squad prepares to up the intensity during scrimmages and preseason matches.
Tired legs aside, odds are Brandon Barklage didn’t know his preseason training would involve running around with Kenny Cooper on his back. Literally:
#FACT of the day - Carrying a 225 pound teddy bear (aka Kenny Cooper Jr.) on your back whilst running doggies is now a nightmare of mine.

Defender Heath Pearce admitted Wednesday’s training session left him no choice but to watch bad movies from the comfort of his bed:
When you are too sore to get up and grab remote so you end up watching the worst made for TV movies on Gods green earth for all of preseason

Nevertheless, Barklage, Cooper, and Pearce were back on the pitch Thursday morning in Bradenton, FL to train and congratulate newly appointed head coach Mike Petke. The team named Petke head coach at 11am, just in time for the team's session. After a slight break in between sessions, the team was back at it later in the day for a series of workouts with an emphasis on fitness, footwork, and passing.
