How Acquired: Signed on Aug. 17, 2012

Lloyd Sam’s first season with the Red Bulls in 2012 was unfortunately shortened by a season-ending PCL injury on Oct. 20, but the limited action he did see in seven matches, two starts, provided plenty of positives for the road ahead. Nothing suggested that more than when the Red Bulls signed him to a new deal on Jan. 7, 2013.

Professional:

2013: Scored his first-career MLS goal on May 11 in a 1-1 draw against the New England Revolution.

2012: Made his Red Bulls debut on Aug. 29 when he subbed on in New York’s 2-2 draw against D.C. United. Debuted at home on Sept. 19 against Sporting KC when he subbed on for the last 21 minutes of play, registering three shots in the Red  Bulls’ 2-0 loss. Started in his first match for the Red Bulls on Sept. 29, a 4-1 win over Toronto FC. Before subbing off after 58 minutes of play with an apparent knee injury, Sam earned his first assist on a Kenny Cooper goal in the 27^th minute. On Oct. 20, he made his final start of the season in a scoreless draw against Sporting KC, subbing off after the 77^th minute with what would later be diagnosed as a season-ending PCL injury.

2003 - 2012: Made 10 appearances with English League One side Notts County while on loan from Leeds United, scoring five goals in that span. Prior to that, Sam was transferred from Charlton Athletic to Leeds United in August 2010. From 2010 to 2012, Sam produced two goals in 35 appearances for Leeds United. In 2006, Sam was placed on loan from Charlton Athletic to Sheffield Wednesday. From 2003 to 2004, after two seasons with Premier League side Charlton Athletic, Sam was placed on loan to League Two side Leyton Orient.
