Veteran defender Keel was signed by the club this season to provide cover at center back. The Littleton, CO native, who spent last season with the Portland Timbers in USL, comes to the Red Bulls with MLS experience as he was a member of the Colorado Rapids from 2005-09.
2011: Set career highs in games played (16), starts (13), and assists (2). Made team debut on March 26 at Columbus, starting and playing all 90 minutes of 0-0 draw. Registered first career MLS assist on Henry’s game-winning goal on June 10 in 2-1 victory over New England. Started, played 90 minutes and assisted on Rodgers’ game-winning goal on Sept. 17 at FC Dallas.
2009-10:Appeared in 53 games for USL First Division side Portland Timbers, scoring one goal. 2005-09: Was a member of the Colorado Rapids, appearing in six MLS matches. Played in 36 reserve games for the Rapids, helping lead the team to back-to-back MLS Reserve Division titles in 2006 and 2007. In 2007, was named MLS Magazine’s Reserve Player of the Year. During the 2006 season, he was loaned out to USL side Seattle Sounders, where he played in 10 games and scored one goal.
Played four seasons at powerhouse Wake Forest, competing in 63 games while scoring 13 goals and nine assists. While in college, he also played on the club level for USL Premier Development League side Bradenton Academics.
