Playoff scenarios and important dates

New York can finish as high as third or as low as fifth in the Eastern Conference. MLS has confirmed that the Eastern Conference knockout game between the fourth and fifth seeds would take place on October 30 (8:00 PM). The winner of that game would host the first leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals Series against D.C. United on Sunday, November 2 (time TBD).

New York finishes third

  • November 1 or 2: Red Bulls would be at home the first leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals vs. New England Revolution
  • November 9 at 5:00 PM: Red Bulls would be on the road for the second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals vs. New England Revolution

New York finishes fourth

  • October 30: at 8:00 PM Red Bulls would host single knockout game vs. Columbus Crew OR Sporting Kansas City
  • November 2: If Red Bulls advance, they would be at home for the first leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals vs. D.C. United
  • November 8 at 2:30 PM: If Red Bulls advance, they would be on the road for the second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals vs. D.C. United
