UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The Red Bulls' hunt for an addition to their midfield appears to be put on ice.
New York head coach Hans Backe was hopeful of bringing in another player during the transfer window, but on Friday he told reporters that getting the player in before Sunday’s deadline appeared daunting.
Backe said the team is still talking with the club and the player about a move to New York and may know Friday if any progress will be made. The Swede added that the pending roster move, if it happened, would be an addition for the 2011 season.
“That means we will stay with the roster we have now,” Backe said. “If we are lucky, we can probably have him in January.”
