U18s:  The U18 Red Bulls traveled to Brooklyn, NY, and under some difficult conditions played some impressive soccer in defeating New York Stars, 2-0. Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, NJ) continued his impressive form of scoring with a direct free kick in the 19th minute from 25 yards. Allen curled the ball around the wall and into the lower left hand corner after he had been fouled by a New York Stars double team. The Red Bulls continued to apply pressure but could not build on their lead in the first half.

“At times we found it difficult to play today with the grass field being so bumpy. However, despite the field conditions I think we did play some impressive soccer. We did a better job defending today and trying to win the ball in the opponent’s half, which allowed us to create more offensive chances,” stated U18 head coach Paul O’Donnell. The Red Bulls continued to apply pressure and completed the scoring when midfielder Sean Davis (Holmdel, NJ) rifled home a 25 yard blast in the 82nd minute after a Dan Metzger (Holmdel, NJ) lay-off.

“Sean does not score often, but when he does it always seems to be a blast from outside the box. We are looking for him to get forward more and get into the box and be more of a danger. Today he had several quality chances from outside the box and posed a danger with his runs from the midfield,” stated O’Donnell.

Lineup: Santiago Castano (Jake Wagmeister 69’), Paul Ehrenworth (Antonio Matarazzo 59’), Kyle Roach, Bryan Gallego, Richmond McCarthy (Edison Sanchez 72’), Sean Davis, Ross Tetro, Dan Metzger (McCarthy 84’), Christian Johnson (Damian Bziukiewicz 50’), Brandon Allen (Matt Bouraee 72’), Kyle McCord (Mike Innocenzi 69’).
Subs not used: none

U15s:  The Red Bull U15s did not play last week.

U14s:  The U14 Red Bulls defeated U14 Cosmos Academy East, 5-0. The Red Bulls broke open a tightly contested game with five goals in the second half at Rutgers Newark on Saturday, October 16.

“The Cosmos have a very good team and made it difficult for us today,” said head coach Jeff Zaun. “The first goal was important for us. The game opened up after that and we continued to send players forward and were able to create some good chances the last 25 minutes.”

For the Red Bulls, Wes Wade (South Orange, NJ) tallied a brance, with Adonis Martinez (Levittown, NY), Chris Lema (Ridgefield, NJ) and Malcolm Dixon (Glenridge, NJ) each finding the back of the net once.

Evan Louro (South River, NJ) and Gianni Carillo (Pine Bush, NY) split time in goal for the shutout, working in tandem with the U14 back four of Tyler Pinho (Cranford, NJ), Theo Miller (Brooklyn, NY), Brandon Tetro (Freehold, NJ) and Kevin Politz (Morganville, NJ).

The Red Bulls move to 11-0-0 on the season and will next play NJSA on October 24th at Rutgers Newark.

U13s:  The U13 Red Bull defeat U13 Cosmos Academy East, 3-0, on Saturday, October 16. The Red Bulls scored early on in the game when Kyle Zajec (Westport, CT) slotted home a penalty after a hand ball in the box. Midway through the first half JC Obregon (Brooklyn, NY) sent a through ball to Malik Stewart (Paterson, NJ) who beat the goalkeeper in a one-vs.-one to make it 2-0. After some early pressure from the Cosmos early in the second half, Israel Guerrero (Elmhurst, NY) netted from 20 yards out after Stewart set the ball for him. Nicky Pritchard (New Egypt, NJ) and Max Lurie (South Orange, NJ) split time in the Red Bulls goal to earn the shutout.

“I thought it was a very good night for all players. They knew what to do at the moment they got the ball; it was nice to sit back and enjoy the game,” said head coach Antonio Meza.  “The back line and goalkeepers were solid with no mistakes.  The midfield of Kyle Zajec and Callum Johnson (New York, NY) had great ball movement and also effective ball recovery, winning the ball back quickly enough to counter attack.”
