Academy sides headed to Florida: For the third year in a row the U16 and U18 Red Bulls Academy teams will be preparing for their upcoming season with a week-long training camp in Bradenton, Florida.  The trip, from Feb 17-12, will bring 44 players along with seven staff members to the Sunshine State. The two teams will be playing several friendly matches, including the U16s taking on the United States Under-17 National Team.

Wolyniec named full time Academy coach: Former Red Bull PlayerJohn Wolyniec, who played 12 years in MLS including eight with the New York franchise, has joined the Red Bulls Academy as a full time coach. Wolyniec will bring his years of experience and knowledge to the youth players in the Red Bulls Academy. Since his retirement from professional soccer, John has been working with the Academy in a part-time role. This spring, Wolyniec will primarily work with the U16 and U18 Academy teams.

“I have witnessed John's growth as a player from youth to Fordham and throughout his professional career,” Director of Youth Programs Bob Montgomery said. “He has always exhibited hard work, honesty, respect and sportsmanship. These qualities and his vast playing experience in MLS will be a great asset to our Academy players and Club".

Metzger invited to the U18 US National Team Camp: Red Bulls Academy U18 midfielder Dan Metzger (who recently signed to play at the University of Maryland in the fall) will participate in the one week camp from Feb. 12-20 in Phoenix, Arizona.  In December 2010, Metzger and Red Bulls teammate Brian Gallego (who has committed to defending NCAA Champion University of Akron) traveled to Israel to play for the United States Under-18 team in an international tournament.
