The New York Red Bulls Academy was victorious Tuesday night after posting a 3-1 final over Pateadores in Group 1 play of the U-15/16 division at the Development Academy Finals Week.

New York wasted no time getting on the score sheet when Adam Najem ignited the Red Bulls’ early lead with a goal 28 seconds into the match.

Pateadores’ Brian Pacheco leveled the score nine minutes in when he slipped a penalty kick past Red Bulls ‘keeper Evan Luoro. Both sides entered the half locked in a 1-1 tie, but a straight red card to Pateadores’ Critsian Carrillo in the 46th minute provided New York with an opportune moment to pad their lead. And pad it they did.

Alex Muyl worked his way onto the score sheet in the 61st minute after receiving a slick pass from Amando Moreno and delivering a shot through the legs of goalkeeper Brandon Gomez to give the Red Bulls a 2-1 advantage. Sixteen minutes later it was Vinny Brunetti finding the back of the net, courtesy of an assist from Wesley Wade.

New York’s defense was hardly tested throughout the match, facing only five total shots, three of which were on frame. The Red Bulls unleashed 17 shots, seven on goal in the match.

The Red Bulls will continue they run toward a national championship when they face the Chicago Fire Thursday at 9 PM.
