A 4-0 finish Saturday, matched with a 2-1 win Sunday, helped the Red Bulls’ U-13 squad improve on their already impressive start to the season.
Saturday’s shut-out win came against a strong FC Delco side, but the Red Bulls wasted no time establishing a lead early on. Tyrell Moore opened the Red Bulls’ account thanks to a great cross into the box from Zach Ryan. Defender Carlos Alvarado got into the mix as well, picking up his first of the season off a beautifully placed free kick to put New York up 2-0.
A few minutes later it was Kian Alberto hitting pay dirt, as he split two defenders after receiving a perfect pass from Zach Ryan to tuck it in past the Delco ‘keeper. And finally, the last goal of the match came courtesy of a penalty kick, as Anes Mrkulic guessed correctly and placed the ball into the netting.
Sunday’s 2-1 win over Albertson required some comeback heroics, as the squad found themselves down early in a 1-0 deficit. The team trailed for most of the game until the 65th minute when Zach Ryan placed a penalty kick into the net to level the score. All tied up with minutes ticking down, it took only five minutes from the time of the game-tying goal for the Red Bulls to claim the game-winner, when Brandon Haughton found Ryan, who calmly placed it into the goal.
The Red Bulls’ U-14 squad defeated Albertson this past Sunday to remain perfect on the season. The squad took an early lead when forward Kyle Casey registered a hat trick within the first 25 minutes of play. Donte Greer also scored two, while also adding an assist on the day.
Izzy Tandir’s one goal and two assists helped power the U-18 team to a big 4-1 win over the Montreal Impact. Tandir opened up the scoring in the 32nd minute after receiving a pass from Arun Basuljevic. Not even a minute later, it was Kyle Goodwin finding the back of the net, courtesy of a Tandir set up. Before the half, Alex Muyl buried a penalty kick for his first of the season, as Erik Sa rounded out the scoring in the 60th minute.
