New York Red Bulls General Manager Jérôme de Bontin joined U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati, current U.S. Women's National Team midfielder Carli Lloyd, and National Soccer Hall of Fame member and former U.S. Men's National Team star Jeff Agoos to help preside over the Closing Bell of the New York Stock Exchange Tuesday afternoon.

The event officially started Centennial Week, which will include a number of activities commemorating the 100-year anniversary of U.S. Soccer’s charter, signed in New York on April 5, 1913. The week will culminate on April 5 – the official anniversary date.

“It was an honor to join U.S. Soccer in the New York Stock Exchange Closing Bell Ceremony and I would like to thank them for their invitation and including me in the Centennial Week festivities,” de Bontin said. “I would also like to congratulate U.S. Soccer on its 100th anniversary. The sport has seen tremendous success across the country and we look forward to helping do our part in continuing this growth for many years to come.”

As far as the stock market’s performance, the Dow and S&P 500 had bullish results, closing at record highs.
