It was another stellar weekend for the Red Bulls Academy, as the sides combined for a perfect 5-0 record in matches against FC Westchester, outscoring their opponent 19-0.
The 99 pre-Academy boys opened up the weekend with a 3-0 win over Westchester in the second meeting of the season between the two sides. Brandon Haughton started off the scoring when he finished off a great run with a slick finish past the Westchester ‘keeper. The Red Bulls continued to dominate possession for the better part of the match and well into the second, when Zach Ryan found the back of the net to double up the Red Bulls’ lead. Minutes later, Carlos Alvarado rounded out the scoring when he converted a penalty kick.
The U-14 Red Bulls padded their overall record to 19-1-1 after defeating Westchester 2-0 Sunday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, the Red Bulls jumped out to a 1-0 lead in second half on a goal from Steve Bednarsky. Minutes later, it was Bednarsky again, this time delivering a perfect through ball to Rodrigo D’Andrea, who crossed it to Dantea Greer for his 20th of the season.
In U-15 action, the Red Bulls posted an 8-0 shutout over Westchester thanks to a strong team outing that saw six players find the back of the net, including a brace from both Ethan Lochner and Jerel Blades. New York wasted no time getting on the board when they fired out of the gate and scored the first tally less than two minutes into the match. From there, the Red Bulls maintained possession and cruised to an easy victory.
Keeping with the shutout trend, the U-16 Red Bulls posted a 4-0 shutout thanks to two goals from Harrison Steadman and one each from Alex Tejera and Anthony Viteri. In goal, Gianni Carillo and Tom Lapinas combined for the clean sheet.
And lastly, the U-18s kept their undefeated record intact thanks to a 2-0 win Sunday afternoon. Izzy Tandir nearly found the back of the net in the 10th minute off a header, but unfortunately watched the opportunity get snuffed out by the Westchester D. After assuming control through possession in the early stages, Wesley Wade posted up the first tally of the day in the 24th minute with a blast from 12 yards out. New York had plenty of chances throughout the first half, including another from Wade that hit the post, a point-blank shot from Ethan Decker that was stopped on the spot by the Westchester ‘keeper, and another from Decker from six yards out that resulted in a last-minute, desperation save. It wasn’t until the 87th minute when New York doubled up, after Kerlins Georges slipped a left-footed shot into the right corner of the goal. Red Bulls goalkeeper Joe Ohaus picked up his fourth clean sheet of the season in the win.
