New York Red Bulls midfielder Dax McCarty will miss Saturday's match against Toronto FC after suffering a quad injury Wednesday aftrnoon during the team's training session at Montclair State University.

“Dax will be out, the word right now, two weeks,” said Red Bulls Head Coach Mike Petke after Thursday’s session. “He has a slight tear in his quad. It’s a small little tear, so [the medical staff] are only saying two to two-and-a-half weeks.”

McCarty, who was recently named to MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Week for the second consecutive week, has scored two goals and added one assist so far this season. On the defensive side of the ball, the two-way midfielder earned praise for his ability to shut down attacks from the opposition and maintain his role as a stalwart in New York's starting lineup.

“It’s not an easy one to deal with but it’s the story of our season sometimes,” said Red Bulls captain Thierry Henry. “You miss some players and you have to make sure that you can adapt and adjust. But obviously missing Dax is difficult because he is a big piece of our puzzle.”
