ABOUT THE MATCH

The Red Bulls travel across the border to face Toronto FC for the first of three meetings between the sides this season. Toronto FC (1-2-4, 7 pts.) is currently in a seventh place tie in the East with the Chicago Fire and nearly earned a win in its last match at home Saturday against the Houston Dynamo. Former New York midfielder Jeremy Hall put the Reds up 1-0 in the 58th minute, but a second half stoppage time equalizer from Warren Creavalle helped give Houston a point. Toronto FC is unbeaten at BMO Field in 2013, going 1-0-3, and has tied four straight games. The club's only win came on March 9 – a 2-1 triumph over Sporting Kansas City at home. Toronto FC has been boosted by the performance of Welsh striker Robert Earnshaw, who leads his team with five goals and is currently in a second place tie in the MLS Golden Boot race. On Wednesday evening, Toronto FC beat the Montreal Impact, 2-0, at BMO Field in its first Canadian Championship match.

New York has enjoyed recent success versus its Canadian foe, going unbeaten in its last seven matches (5-0-2 in that span). Last year, the Red Bulls tied 1-1 at BMO Field on June 30 and won, 4-1, on Sept. 29 at Red Bull Arena on the back of a one-goal, three-assist performance from forward Thierry Henry. New York is 8-4-3 all-time against Toronto FC and 2-3-3 at BMO Field.
