ABOUT THE MATCH

The Red Bulls come into the week following a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo Sunday at a sold out Red Bull Arena with Fabian Espindola and Jonny Steele finding the back of the net. Second place New York (8-6-4, 28 pts.) trails the Montreal Impact (9-4-2, 29 pts.) by one point in the Eastern Conference. Montreal does play on Wednesday evening against Toronto FC while co-third place teams Philadelphia and Sporting Kansas City are also in action before the Red Bulls take the field.

Colorado (6-7-5, 23 pts.) just snapped a three game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Impact on last Saturday, moving to sixth place in the Western Conference. Forward Tony Cascio’s shot in the 95th minute found the back of the net after deflecting off two Montreal defenders, giving him his first goal of the season and the Rapids the three points.
Deshorn Brown’s one timer off of a Chris Klute cross tied the game at three in the 77th minute. Colorado enters the week sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference with 23 points.

New York is 15-16-5 all-time against Colorado, going 6-9-3 on the road versus the Rapids. The last time the teams played was in New York’s 2012 home opener on March 25, when it beat Colorado, 4-1, behind a pair of two goal performances from Thierry Henry and Kenny Cooper.
