New York Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill has been named to MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week for Week 31 in the wake of his goal-scoring performance against the Seattle Sounders on Sunday.

After going down late in the first half on Seattle defender Brad Evans’ penalty kick, Cahill saved the Red Bulls a crucial point on the road with a 76th-minute blast to even the score. The goal, Cahill’s ninth of the season, helped push New York to the top of the League table with 52 points.

“Led the Red Bulls by example on a night they needed just that,” MLSsoccer.com said of the Australian’s performance.“Committed defensively and dangerous going foward, he netted his team's lone goal of the game to hand New York a 1-1 draw in Seattle and take a big step forward in the Supporters' Shield race.”

It’s another strong outing in what has already been a strong season: Cahill’s nine goals this season have him tied with striker Thierry Henry for the team lead.
