Red Bull Arena to Host U.S. Men's National Team for Match Against Turkey on June 1 Prior to 2014 FIFA World Cup

The New York Red Bulls and U.S. Soccer announced today that Red Bull Arena will host the U. S. Men’s National Team international match on Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m. ET against Turkey. The match will be the second of three Send-Off Series games for the United States before they head to Brazil to compete in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.


The U.S. begins the Send-Off Series against Azerbaijan at 7 p.m. PT on May 27 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, Calif., before traveling to the East Coast to play at Red Bull Arena. The U.S. concludes the series on June 7 at 6 p.m. ET against Nigeria at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. All three matches will be broadcast on ESPN or ESPN2, WatchESPN and UniMas. The U.S. will begin its World Cup training camp in mid-May. The exact starting date and location will be released in the near future. After the match in Jacksonville, the U.S. MNT will travel to Sao Paulo, Brazil, its base camp location during the World Cup. The U.S. is training at Sao Paulo FC, and will conduct its final preparations in advance of Group G matches against Ghana, Portugal and Germany.


Red Bull Arena, a 25,000-seat state-of-the-art facility located in Harrison, New Jersey is the home of the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer (MLS) and opened in March 2010, when the Red Bulls defeated Brazilian side, Santos, 3-1. Since then, Red Bull Arena has hosted a number of top club and international squads including the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams, Ecuador, Colombia, Czech Republic and Turkey.
The U.S. Men’s National Team lost 1-0 to Ecuador in a friendly on Oct. 11, 2011 in the team’s only appearance at Red Bull Arena. Turkey faced the Czech Republic on May 22, 2010 at Red Bull Arena and won 2-1.
