RED BULLS ARITHMETIC: A numerical guide to RBNY vs. Seattle

On September 20 the New York Red Bulls will host Western Conference leaders Seattle Sounders. RBNY are in the midst of a tight playoff race in the Eastern Conference, and with only six matches remaining in the MLS season, every point is important.


Here are your numbers to consider before Saturday’s match.


  • 1 – The total amount of matchups between the Red Bulls and Sounders this season. The teams don’t meet often, but RBNY is 2-3-3 against Seattle all-time.
  • 1 – Amount of points that separate New York Red Bulls, Columbus Crew, and Philadelphia Union. Red Bull currently stand alone in fourth place with 38 points while the Columbus Crew, in fifth place, and the Philadelphia Union, in sixth place, are separated only by goal differential with 37 points each.   • 4 – Shutouts by Luis Robles this season. The Red Bulls shutout rivals D.C. United in their previous home match, and hope to do the same when Seattle visits.

  • 99 – Total number of career MLS games started for midfielder Eric Alexander. Since joining the Red Bulls in 2013, he has recorded six goals and 10 assists.
