MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Key dates leading up to first kick at Red Bull Arena

With the holidays behind them, the Red Bulls are gearing up for a busy two months leading up to the 2015 season opener at Sporting Kansas City, and the first kick at Red Bull Arena in late March. The offseason is over, with team personnel already prepping for next week’s MLS SuperDraft. Here’s a list of key dates between now and the home opener.


  • January 7 – MLS will release the full 2015 schedule.
  • January 9 to 13 – The 2015 adidas MLS Combine for the 64 collegiate players that have been invited to the MLS SuperDraft. The combine will take place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and features three double-header match days for MLS coaching staffs to evaluate players prior to the draft.
  • January 15 – MLS’ 20 franchises will convene in Philadelphia for the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.
  • January 26 – The Red Bulls depart for Orlando for the first of two training camp sessions. The first session will run through February 6th.
  •  Feb 16 – After a nine-day respite and training at the Red Bulls facilities, the team will again travel to Florida, this time to Bradenton, for the second preseason session. The second camp will break on March 1st, when the club will travel home to make final preparations for the season opener.
  • March 8 – New York’s 20th season opens on the road with a rematch of the 2014 Eastern Conference knockout round against Sporting Kansas City. The match, set for 5 p.m. (TV: Fox Sports 1), will be part of a Sunday triple-header of MLS action during the season’s opening weekend.
  • March 22 – Red Bull Arena opens for its fifth season with a match against archrival D.C. United. The Red Bulls ended D.C.’s 2014 campaign in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
