Noah Powder and Zaire Bartley called up to U-17 National Teams

HARRISON, N.J. (Feb. 27, 2015) – New York Red Bulls Academy products Zaire Bartley (Jamaica) and Noah Powder (Trinidad & Tobago) are set to join their respective national teams for the 2015 CONCACAF Under-17 Championships in Honduras.


Bartley and Powder were both members of the undefeated Red Bulls U-16’s in 2014. Bartley, a striker, had three goals for the Red Bulls last season and will begin his tournament with Jamaica against host Honduras on Friday, Feb. 27. Powder and Trinidad & Tobago are set to face Guatemala on the same day.


The Red Bulls teammates, both members of Group A, are set to square off on Sunday, March 8 at 4 p.m. ET. Additional members of Group A include Honduras, Guatemala, Cuba and the United States. Fellow Red Bulls Academy players Tyler Adams and Matt Olosunde were called up to the U.S. U-17 squad and will face Trinidad & Tobago on Monday, March 2 at 6 p.m. ET and Jamaica on Wednesday, March 11 at 6 p.m. ET. All U.S. U-17 matches will be televised on Fox Sports 2.


Each team will play five matches, facing each team in their group once before the one-day Championship phase on Sunday, March 15. The second group, Group B, consists of Costa Rica, Mexico, Canada, Panama, Haiti and Saint Lucia.


The CONCACAF U-17 Championships begin tonight, Friday, Feb. 27 and end with the Fourth Place, Third Place, and Final on March 15. The top team from each group after round-robin play will qualify directly to the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile and meet in the Final of this tournament. The second and third place nations from each group will play in the Third Place and Fourth Place games with the chance to advance to play-in matches which will determine CONCACAF’s other two U-17 World Cup spots.
