Generation adidas Cup Group A Play
April 1, 2015 (Dallas, Texas) - The Red Bulls U-16 Academy team secured the top spot in Group A of the Generation adidias Cup with a 3-0 win over Seattle Sounders FC. The team will advance to play LA Galaxy on short rest tomorrow in the first of the Premier Division Semifinal matches.
Brian Saramago opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he made a powerful run behind the Seattle Sounders backline. Saramago was forced wide but cut inside and unleashed a driven shot into the bottom corner from a tight angle.
Zaire Bartley doubled Red Bulls advantage just before half time. Omir Fernandez won the ball in the middle of the field and attempted to play in Saramago but his pass deflected from Seattle defender and fell kindly for Bartley to finish at the top of the penalty area.
Jared Gilbey almost made it 3-0 midway through the second half when he picked the ball up 25 yards out from goal. But his curled shot from distance went crashing off Seattle’s cross bar. Gilbey would be rewarded with a goal moments later when the Seattle goalkeeper failed to hold a Saramago shot from the edge of the area. Gilbey who started the move deep in the Red Bulls half ran 70 yards to tap the ball home and secure the points for the Red Bulls.
“After a sloppy first half, I thought we took control of the game and dominated," Gilbey said. "We limited them to only a few half chances throughout the game. It’s a testament to the quality of our team that we can come away with a comfortable win after not performing to our highest potential."
A solid defensive display from the Red Bulls backline of Sean Teixeria, Mason Deeds, Kyle Perno and Noah Powder limited Seattle to very few chances and helped to secure Xavier Kennedy his second shutout of the tournament.

Red Bull U-16's (1) vs. Sports Club do Revife (1) - RB win penalty shootout (3-1)

March 30, 2015 (Dallas, Texas) - The Red Bulls U16 Academy moved to the top of Group A with dramatic shootout win against Sport Club do Recife of Brazil in the Premier Division of the Generation adidas Cup.
It was a tentative start from the Red Bulls as Recife started the game on top. The Brazilian side took an early lead in the 8th minute of the game when a penalty call went the way of the visiting team. After the goal the Red Bulls picked up their game and created two good chances of their own. Brian Saramago made a powerful run behind the Recife backline and forced a good save from the Recife goalkeeper.
Rodrigo D’Andrea followed up shortly after with a run and strike of his own. A nice move to help create space was followed up with a powerful strike from distance that was inches away from the top corner. The Red Bulls pushed hard for the equalizer after the break and were rewarded mid-way through the second half when a powerful run and cross from Saramago was diverted goalwards by JP Marin only to be brilliantly saved by the Recife goalkeeper. Kyle Casey was quick to the rebound and finished from close range to get the Red Bulls on level terms.
The momentum was with the Red Bulls and they continued to push for the winner. Bratislav Petkoric entered the game late in the second half and nearly scored with his first touch of the game. The ball was picked off in midfield by Kazu Shignebou who played the ball through to Jared Gilbey. Gilbey's deflected through ball fell to Petkoric at the edge of the six yard box and his brave header was well stopped by the Recife goalkeeper who spread himself to keep the score level.
The game went into a penalty shootout where teams had the opportunity to earn an extra point. The Red Bulls scored their first two kicks through Jared Gilbey and Noah Powder. Xavier Kennedy then showed his quality with two excellent saves to give the Red Bulls the edge. It was left to Ryan Mingachos to seal the win in the shootout and he calmly dispatched the winning kick to give the Red Bulls the 3-1 advantage.
“We expected a tough game from the international side, but we knew that if we went out and played our game, we would come out on top," Goalkeeper Xavier Kennedy said. "After going down early, we weren’t discouraged. Like the Red Bulls Academy has taught us, the game is never over.”

Generation adidas Cup Group A Play
March 29, 2015 (Dallas, Texas) - The U-16 Red Bulls started off the last round of the Generation adidas Cup games with a win against the Houston Dynamo.
It was a quick start by the Red Bulls scoring from their first chance of the game. The goal came off a corner by Rodrigo D’Andrea that was flicked on by Zach Ryan and finished from close range by Mason Deeds to give the Red Bulls the lead.
The Red Bulls almost doubled their advantage from a second set play after a well struck free kick from Rodrgio D’Andrea was well saved by the Houston goalkeeper and the rebound was narrowly placed wide by Kyle Perno.
The Red Bulls were in control for most of the game and created other good chances in the second half through Omir Fernandez and Kyle Casey but could not add to the 1-0 score line.
“I love to set the tone early in the game and what better way to do it than scoring a goal in the first couple of minutes," Captain and goal scorer Mason Deeds said postgame. "The team stayed united through the whole game and it proved a key factor in getting the three points. I’m excited for our team and the ability to go far in this tournament."

March 28, 2015 at Red Bulls Training Facility (Hanover, NJ) - The 2001 Red Bulls pre-academy team extended their unbeaten record to 11-0-0 with a victory over Soccer Association of Columbia on Saturday at the Red Bulls Training Facility. The Red Bulls dictated the match from the beginning and opened the scoring when Leo Hecht converted a penalty just 9 minutes into the match.
The Red Bulls maintained control of the match and dominated possession but would finish the half with the lone Hecht goal. However, the Red Bulls would raise the tempo in the 2nd half and create many more goal scoring chances. Midfielder Amadeo scored from distance to give the Red Bulls a 2-0 lead in the 44th minute. Seven minutes later Striker Kejiel Watt added to the lead with an assist from Leo Hecht. Watt and forward Jayden Reid would notch in a goal a piece later in the half as the Red Bulls coasted to a 5-0 victory.

Red Bull U-12 White (7) vs. Metropolitan Oval (2)
March 29, 2015 at Red Bull Training Facility (Hanover, NJ) - The U12 players continued their season Sunday afternoon at the Red Bull Training Facility in Whippany, NJ. The white team faced Met Oval at noon and were the first to strike.
Justin Weiss darted near post and finished off a Luke Lusskin feed less than three minutes into the game. Weiss became the provider in the eleventh minute, slotting a cross to the feet of Zane Brown who finished clinically for his first of two. Murat Calkap added two goals and an assist, Matty Acosta tallied a goal and an assist, as well as a goal by Orick Briscoe. Aidan Borra, Conner Maurer and Elliott Leinweber were solid on defense seeing out the win, with a 7-2 final score.

Red Bull U-12 Blue (15) vs. Boston (0)
March 29, 2015 at Red Bull Training Facility (Hanover, NJ) - The blue team kicked off at 1:30 against Boston. The young bulls came out flying on both sides of the ball and completely nullified whatever the opposition had rehearsed.
The dominating effort saw plenty of ball movement and clever finishes. Danny Ramm finished his first of five goals just nine minutes into the match. Anthony Bileddo and Jayson Argueta both ended the day with hat-tricks. Andrew Maia finished nicely twice, while Peter Stroud and Dylan Estevez each scored one apiece. Amir Daley and Alex Bobocea were all over the field causing havoc for the visitors. Red Bull breezed to a 15-0 score line and the U12s' second win of the day.
