LAST TIME OUT
In the most recent league match, New York Red Bulls II played to a 1-1 draw with one of the best teams in USL, the Charleston Battery, last Sunday in their first match of Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Field on the campus of Columbia University in Manhattan. Red Bulls striker Anatole Abang scored his third goal of the season in the sixth minute, gathering a superb pass from fellow Cameroonian Marius Obekop and taking a touch around the Charleston ‘keeper for his third of the season.
Charleston leveled in stoppage time, when a penalty was awarded after a Battery player was pulled down in the box.
SCOUTING FC Montreal
FC Montreal, USL affiliate of MLS club Montreal Impact, enter the weekend coming off of their first win of the season. Montreal defeated Eastern Conference power Charleston Battery, 1-0, last Thursday, days before NYRB II played to a 1-1 draw with Charleston at Columbia University.
In the 28th minute, winger Frédéric Lajoie-Gravelle passed the ball deep down the left side to Impact forward Romario Williams. He moved forward with the ball before passing back to midfielder Louis Béland-Goyette. Without hesitation, Béland-Goyette shot low to beat the goalkeeper and score the only goal of the game. Beland-Goyette leads the team with two of the three goals scored this season.
Four of FC Montreal’s starters last weekend were on loan from the Impact, including goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, who made three saves to keep the clean sheet.
