Konrad Plewa named to USL Team of the Week

HARRISON, N.J. (May 24, 2016) ā€“ New York Red Bulls II defender Konrad Plewa has been named to the Week Nine USL Team of the Week for his performance against FC Montreal.



Plewa, a native of Maniowy, Poland, earned the game-winning assist in the 90th minute on Saturday to earn Red Bulls II its fourth road victory of the season.


The defender has played eight games this season, logging 590 minutes, and has played in all five of NYRB IIā€™s clean sheets this season. The Red Bulls academy product is in his second season with Red Bulls II, and is the club leader in minutes (2,253), games played (32), starts (26) and game-winning goals (2).


New York Red Bulls II is back in action this weekend as part of a Red Bull Arena double header. NYRB II will face the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at 10 p.m., after the New York Red Bulls face Toronto FC in MLS action at 7 p.m. Admission to the Red Bulls II match is available to fans with a ticket to the MLS match (TICKETS).


USL Team of the Week

GK ā€“ Cody Laurendi, OKC Energy FC: Laurendi put in a standout performance on the road as his six-save shutout led Energy FC to a 1-0 win against San Antonio FC.


D ā€“ Konrad Plewa, New York Red Bulls II:Plewa was strong defensively, and provided the assist on Junior Flemmingsā€™ late winner in NYRBIIā€™s 1-0 win at Montreal.


D ā€“ Shawn Ferguson, Charleston Battery: Ferguson scored with a nifty finish and then helped the Battery defense shut down Wilmingtonā€™s attack in a 1-0 win on the road.


D ā€“ Dave Romney, LA Galaxy II: Romney scored a late equalizer as Los Dos earned a 1-1 draw with Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Sunday.


D ā€“ Josh Suggs, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC: Suggs scored a brilliant Olimpico for the opening goal of the game, and was solid defensively in a 3-1 win against Arizona.


M ā€“ Lebo Moloto, Pittsburgh Riverhounds: Molotoā€™s outstanding opening goal paved the way for the Riverhounds to claim their first win of the season on Saturday night.


M ā€“ Ricardo Velazco, Real Monarchs SLC: Velazco had two goals and one assist to lead the Monarchs back from a halftime deficit in their 3-1 win against Orange County.


M ā€“ Fatawu Safiu, Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2: Safiu scored a spectacular free kick, and was a consistent threat in attack against his former club in WFC2ā€™s 3-1 win in Portland.


F ā€“ Hadji Barry, Orlando City B: The Rochester native scored both goals as OCB took a 2-1 victory against the Rhinos on Sunday evening.


F ā€“ Aaron Wheeler, Harrisburg City Islanders: Wheeler notched a pair of goals and one assist on Sunday evening as the City Islanders defeated Bethlehem 3-1.


F ā€“ Irvin Herrera, Saint Louis FC: Herrera struck four times as his movement off the ball caused havoc for Tulsaā€™s defense in a 5-2 win for STLFC at ONEOK Field.
