The New York Red Bulls, with six starters making their First Team debuts, triumphed against the 2014-15 English Premier League Champions, Chelsea FC, in the International Champions Cup.

Franklin Castellanos leveled the match at 1-1 in the 51st minute, when he took advantage of a misplaced back-pass from John Terry. He smothered goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, winning the ball, and buried his chance into an open net. Tyler Adams supplied the go-ahead goal, thanks to a cross from Castellanos. Adams met the cross in midair and slipped his header inside the left post, 2-1.

Sean Davis doubled New York’s advantage when a bouncing ball in the penalty box found him in space. He lowered his head and smashed a right-footed shot into the back of the net from 15-yards. After Eden Hazard pulled one back for Chelsea, Davis grabbed his brace in the 77th minute, this time scoring with his left foot, to clinch victory for New York, 4-2.

In total, 15 Red Bulls players made their First Team debuts. All four goals came from Red Bulls Academy products on a night that saw nine Academy alumni take the pitch. For more information about the Red Bulls Academy, visit RedBullsAcademy.com.
