HARRISON, N.J. (August 31, 2015) – New York Red Bulls forward Bradley Wright-Phillips has been named to the MLS Team of the Week after leading the Red Bulls to victory over D.C. United with two goals and an assist on Sunday night.

Wright-Phillips set up Lloyd Sam for the game winner, and then scored twice to put the game away.

The 2014 MLS Golden Boot winner has become a more rounded player in 2015, contributing an MLS career-high seven assists to go with his 13 goals through 25 games.

That form was on full display Sunday night at Red Bull Arena, as BWP got the Red Bulls rolling by controlling a long pass from left back Kemar Lawrence, turning and putting a ball into the path of Lloyd Sam. Sam cut in and beat D.C. ‘keeper Bill Hamid to put the Red Bulls ahead in the 33rd minute.

Wright-Phillips then showed off his finishing ability getting into the box and volleying a laser into the top right corner of Hamid’s net to double the lead just before the half. The strike has earned BWP a nomination for MLS AT&T Goal of the Week.

The Englishman added a second goal to seal the victory in the 64th minute, taking a pass from Sacha Kljestan and charging into the box before firing a shot by Hamid.
