New York Red Bulls kick off annual 11 Days of Service Campaign

HARRISON, N.J. (August 31, 2015) - The New York Red Bulls kick off its annual 11 Days of Service Campaign tomorrow with a trip to the Ronald McDonald House in New York City. The Red Bulls created the 11 days of Service initiative to run in conjunction with September 11 - the national day of service and remembrance.  Rather than participate in just one day of service, the New York Red Bulls will participate in 11 different community activations as a tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks on September 11, 2001.  


Red Bulls players, staff and fans will be giving back to the community via the different events as listed below.


September 1st - Ronald McDonald House: Members of the Red Bulls front office and team will meet the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in New York City and serve dinner.  For more information on how to volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House, please visit http://www.rmh-newyork.org/volunteer.

September 8th - Jersey Cares: Members of the New York Red Bulls front office and their partner Bayer will work at the Newark Conservatory assembling benches and performing general landscaping.  To learn on how to volunteer with Jersey Cares, please visit http://www.jerseycares.org/HOC__Volunteer_Registration_Page.

September 9th -
Covenant House BBQ: Members of the Red Bulls front office and first team will serve dinner to the homeless youth that the Covenant House (located in Newark, NJ) serves.  For more information on how to volunteer with this organization, please visit https://nj.covenanthouse.org/volunteer-activities.

September 11th - Food Drive with Community FoodBank of NJ: At the Red Bulls-Chicago Fire MLS regular season match at Red Bull Arena, the Red Bulls will host a food drive outside of the stadium's gates. Fans attending are encouraged to bring canned food items.

September 14th - Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, East Hanover, NJ: Members of the Red Bulls front office and first team will be helping the animal shelter prepare for one of its fundraisers as well as interacting with the animals housed there.  For more information, on how to volunteer with the Mt. September 16th - Habitat for Humanity, Newark NJ -  The largest Habitat for Humanity Newark project to date, Harmony Point, is a development of 23 homes located in Newark's South Ward. Phase One of "Harmony Point" - now under construction - includes three, three-family condo units, available in two- and three-bedroom layouts. September 22nd - Community FoodBank of NJ: Members of the Red Bulls front office and team will help assemble food boxes for seniors, put together inserts for the FoodBank's Kids' Back Pack program and work in the Tools 4 Schools Resource Center.  For more information on how to volunteer with the Community FoodBank of NJ, please visit http://www.cfbnj.org/help/.

September 23rd - Hospital for Special Surgery Visit: Red Bulls players will visit with pediatric patients at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY.  If you are interested in volunteering at the hospital, please visit http://www.hss.edu/volunteer-in-new-york-city.asp.

September 24th - Mini-Pitch Grand Opening with the New York Red Bulls, MLS WORKS, adidas, Southern New Hampshire University, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Newark Public Schools and After School All-Stars: To celebrate Major League Soccer's 20th season, adidas, MLS WORKS, Southern New Hampshire University and the U.S. Soccer Foundation have partnered with the New York Red Bulls, Newark Public Schools and After-School All-Stars to create a new safe place to play at George Washington Carver School. The new space will officially open on September 24th and members of the Red Bulls front office and team will meet Newark community members and youth to celebrate. September 29th - NYC Service at Cobble Hill Park, Brooklyn- Members of the front
