Last weekend, the New York ed Bulls Academy enjoyed an undefeated weekend, going 3-0-1 in four total matches. The U-18s and U-16s welcomed Philadelphia Union to the Red Bulls Training Facility, while the U-12s faced FC Westchester Everton in Westchester, N.Y., at SUNY Purchase College.
New York Red Bulls U-18 (1) vs. Philadelphia Union (0)
HANOVER, N.J. (November 14, 2015) – The New York Red Bulls U-18 beat local MLS rivals Philadelphia Union on a windy afternoon at the Red Bulls Training Facility, 1-0.
The New York Red Bulls got off to a fast start, scoring the only goal of the game in two minutes. A quickly taken free kick from Kyle Perno, deep inside the Red Bulls own half, put Brian Saramago through on goal. Saramago made no mistake with rifling shot past the goalkeeper to give the Red Bulls an early advantage.
New York continued to press and nearly scored again minutes later when Jared Gilbey intercepted the ball and ran through to go one-on-one against the Union goalkeeper. Gilbey attempted to curl his shot into the far corner only to see it go inches wide of the post. Gilbey turned into a provider minutes later when he opened up a chance for Saramago to get his second. Saramago fired his towards the far corner, but was denied by the goalkeeper to keep the score 1-0 heading into the break.
The Red Bulls started the second half strongly with another chance. Callum Johnson couldn’t find the target after a setup from Pierre Reedy on the right. The conditions made it difficult for both sides and disrupted the rhythm in the second half. The Red Bulls back line held firm and limited the Union to only a few opportunities to preserve the shutout and secure the three points.
The Red Bulls U-18s will take a break next weekend before departing for the U-18 Academy Showcase in Sarasota, Fla., on Dec. 2.

New York Red Bulls U-16 (1) vs. Philadelphia Union (1)
HANOVER, N.J. (November 14, 2015) – The Philadelphia Union came out determined to avenge the 4-0 loss to the Red Bulls in the Generation adidas tournament last month in Toronto. The Union took the early lead off a corner kick in the 5th minute.
Philadelphia continued to make life difficult for the Red Bulls as they pressed all over the field. New York nearly found the equalizer in the 25th minute when JP Marin broke through the Union back line and attempted to chip the Union goalkeeper, but the goalkeeper recovered and made the leaping effort to deflect the ball over the crossbar. That seemed to get things going for the Red Bulls as they took more control of the game and created some very good chances before halftime.
The Red Bulls came out and controlled most of the game in the second half. In the 65th minute, New York leveled the match at 1-1 on a goal from Ben Mines. The Red Bulls put the ball in the back of the net twice, but were called back on offside calls and the game ended in a draw, 1-1. The Red Bulls outshot the Union 9-0 in the second half.
The Red bulls U-16s next match will be in December when they travel to Sarasota, Fla., for the U-16 Academy Showcase.

WESTCHESTER, N.Y. (November 14, 2015) – The New York Red Bulls U-12 Blue overcame a slow start and found their rhythm to pull out a road win on Saturday against FC Westchester Everton, 7-1. The Red Bulls opened the scoring midway through the first half from a wonderful strike from 25-yards out. The goal sparked the momentum the Red Bulls needed to settle down and control the game until the final whistle.

WESTCHESTER, N.Y. (November 14, 2015) – The New York Red Bulls U-12 White finally managed to get back on track with a win over FC Westchester Everton on Saturday at SUNY Purchase College, 3-2. The Red Bulls controlled the majority of possession from the opening whistle, but had difficulty breaking down Westchester’s back line. Despite creating some good opportunities, New York found themselves a goal down early in the match. However, as the game went on, the Red Bulls gained more control from good combination play, patience and creativity to eventually pull out the win.
