Game of Thrones—it’s Monday, so it’s probably all anyone’s talking about around your proverbial water cooler. As it turns out, MLS players are not so different than us. As the season rolls on, we’re catching up weekly with MLS GoT obsessives to weigh in on the latest episodes.
Up first? The San Jose Earthquakes’ Jordan Stewart and the New York Red Bulls’ Bradley Wright-Phillips. And, fair warning, there may or may not be some spoilers below.
Jordan Stewart:
“There wasn’t much going on, of course though they brought Jon Snow back to life. Most of the show was about him and the night watch and how he’s getting, gave that up for somebody else. It looks like he’s going to be doing a new adventure when he leaves the night’s watch.
Khaleesi had to go to, like, a prison, after the guy that she married—normally in their religion as soon as he passes away you have to go to, like, a cult with a bunch of other women who were married to the same type of guys. After the marriage she went and started to get the seven kingdoms, so now she’s not classed as one of the women so she’s getting into some other stuff.
It was kind of a teaser. I kept watching it and waiting for something to happen and then all of a sudden Jon Snow is leaving the night’s watch and it’s over.
So it’s a teaser so I’m hoping the next couple of seasons it picks up and there’s more action. I’d like to see some more dragons, as well.”
Bradley Wright-Phillips:
“Yesterday I don’t think Game of Thrones was too action-packed, but it was very informational. I’m just excited to see when Cersei’s knight gets let loose and starts taking people out.
Also, it worries me—it unsettles me that Rickon is in the hands of Ramsay. That’s a very scary thought.”
