After a long break for the group stage of the Copa America Centenario, New York resumed play with a match in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night, and advanced to the Round of 16 with a 1-0 win over the Rochester Rhinos of the United Soccer League.

The Red Bulls have now won four straight, and are 5-1-1 over the last seven league games to climb to second place in the Eastern Conference standings entering the weekend. New York has outscored opponents 12-0 over its last four games, led by five goals and an assist from Bradley Wright-Phillips, who now finds himself with eight goals this season, just two off the league lead.

Sacha Kljestan got the game-winner on a PK in Rochester, and has four assists in his last two league matches. The midfielder leads all of MLS with 10 assists this season. With 20 regular season games to play, Kljestan is just four assists off the club record, set by Eduardo Hurtando in 1998 and equaled by Thierry Henry in 2014.

Luis Robles got the start in Rochester and backstopped the Red Bulls to a fourth consecutive clean sheet. Robles, who has played in a league-record 120 consecutive regular season games, continues to add to his club records for shutouts (32) and wins (56).

Seattle was also in action during the midweek for the Open Cup, downing Kitsap Pumas 2-0 on goals from Cristian Roldan and Joevin Jones. Seattle is 5-7-1 so far this season, and sit in ninth place in the Western Conference. Rookie Homegrown signing Jordan Morris leads the team with five goals in MLS this season.

New York is 3-4-3 all-time against the Sounders since the club joined MLS in 2009, and 2-1-2 at home. New York took the last meeting at Red Bull Arena, 4-1 in September 2014 behind a Bradley Wright-Phillips hat trick.

After Sunday, the Red Bulls head out for two on the road with matches at Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, June 22 (10 p.m. ET) and at Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, June 25 (7:30 p.m. ET). Coverage of both matches will be on MSG and Red Bulls Radio.
