On Wednesday, March 29, the New York Red Bulls announced that the sides have agreed to a new contract.
The Red Bulls’ Designated Player has enjoyed a historic career with New York, setting club and league scoring records along the way.
Take a look at some of the statistics and milestones No. 99 has racked up over the course of his MLS career with New York:
2: Bradley Wright-Phillips has captured the MLS Golden Boot award twice in 2014 (27) and 2016 (24). He is the fourth MLS player to twice finish as the league’s leading scorer.
3: New York’s Goal King has scored 15+ goals in three consecutive seasons, which trails just Robbie Keane, who reached the mark four consecutive seasons. BWP also set a new MLS record for most goals scored over a three-year span with 68 goals in that time, which is seven more than Chris Wondolowski (2010-12), 12 more than Raul Diaz Arce (1996-98) and 13 more than Robbie Keane (2013-15).
16: BWP has racked up 16 multi-goal games in MLS competitions. The mark is tied for eighth all-time in MLS with Edson Buddle and Taylor Twellman.
27: In 2014, Wright-Phillips tied Roy Lassiter and Chris Wondolowski’s MLS single-season scoring record, finding the back of the net 27 times and capturing his first MLS Golden Boot. In the playoffs, he went on to score four more goals, bringing his 2014 total to 31 in all MLS competitions.
70: BWP became the third fastest player to reach 70 goals in MLS history, behind Roy Lassiter (104 games) and Robbie Keane (106 games). Wright-Phillips earned his 70th goal in his 110th MLS appearance against Seattle Sounders FC on March 19, 2017.
78: Wright-Phillips is the club’s all-time leading goal scorer with 78 goals in all MLS competitions. This includes 70 MLS goals, seven scored in the MLS Cup Playoffs and one in CONCACAF Champions League.
