HARRISON, N.J. (April 4, 2017) – NYRB II continue their two-game home stand in a midweek conference matchup against the Harrisburg City Islanders at Red Bull Arena at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Due to a prior scheduling conflict at NYRB II’s new home venue at Montclair State University, Red Bulls II return to Red Bull Arena for the first time since hoisting the USL Cup trophy there last season. This will be the first of two games that Red Bulls II will play at Red Bull Arena during the 2017 USL season.
New York Red Bulls II played Harrisburg to a 1-1 draw at Red Bulls Training Facility in late March during a preseason friendly.
Wednesday’s game will be the team’s second of three games in seven days culminating in St. Louis this Saturday. NYRB II opened MSU Soccer Park against Richmond Kickers Saturday, out-possesing Richmond 58 percent to 42 percent, as well as a 16-5 advantage on shots en route to a 1-0 victory highlighted by Zeiko Lewis’ first professional goal for Red Bulls II in the 69th minute.
They also saw success against the City Islanders last season winning all three matchups against them while only allowing one goal.
Harrisburg however, is coming off a 1-0 loss at Richmond Kickers on opening weekend in front of a capacity crowd. The City Islanders nearly escaped with a draw had it not been for Richmond’s keeper saving an Aaron Wheeler penalty-kick late.
