Opportunity Awaits NYRB II in Rochester

Red Bulls II

Coming off a 3-1 win at home against Orlando City B last weekend, New York Red Bulls II take to the road to face a side they’ve yet to beat in the Rochester Rhinos.

And although Rochester holds the all-time series advantage 3-0-5 against NYRB II, Head Coach John Wolyniec thinks this matchup comes at an important junction in the early part of the USL season where NYRB II can get the “monkey off their back” with a strong performance on Saturday in upstate New York.

“Even though the results have been different for Rochester as of late, I expect the same Rochester team we’ve seen over the years.” Wolyniec said. “Defensively sound, tight and compact in the back.”

Rochester has allowed seven goals in three games this season. They didn’t allow their seventh goal until their thirteenth match in 2016.

“It’s their home opener,” Wolyniec said. “On the road for us, some see it as a challenge, we see it as opportunity for our guys to really test ourselves and see if we can get three points against a good opponent on the road.”
