New York have won two of their last three matches and sit top of the Eastern Conference. They are coming off a 4-2 loss to New England Revolution II at Gillette Stadium. Midfielder Ibrahim Kasule put away a penalty kick in the 33rd minute for his sixth goal of the season. Midfielder Malick Dembele made his first start and appearance of the season and found the back of the net in the 57th minute. Academy products Ryan Scuro and Paul Sokoloff made their MLS NEXT Pro debuts.
Chicago are unbeaten in their last five matches and are fourth in the Eastern Conference standings. They were last in action on Friday, August 15 against Philadelphia Union II at SeatGeek Stadium. The match was level for the first 80 minutes, but Fire FC II scored two goals in the 81st and 86th minutes courtesy of David Tchetchao Karo and Claudio Cassano to seal a 2-0 victory.
