New York have won three straight matches and sit top of the Eastern Conference. They’re coming off a thrilling 3-2 victory against Huntsville City FC on September 13 at Wicks Family Feud. After a scoreless first half, New York found three goals in the second half courtesy of forward Mijahir Jimenez, and midfielders Dennis Nelich and Nehuen Benedetti. Benedetti sealed the match with an 89th minute game winner off a strike from outside the box.

Inter Miami CF II sit in fourteenth place in the Eastern Conference and are winless in their last four matches. They’re coming off a 1-1 draw against Orlando City B on Sunday, September 14 at Chase Stadium. The match went on to a penalty kick shootout where Miami fell 5:3.

This will be the first matchup this season between the two sides this season. Red Bulls II own the series going unbeaten through four MLS NEXT Pro match with a 3-0-1 record.

The two sides last faced on May 3, 2024 at Chase Stadium. Miami opened the scoring in the 12th minute thanks to a right footed volley from forward Bryan Destin. New York responded in the 20th minute off a finish from midfielder Ibrahim Kasule from a through ball by midfielder Mohammed Sofo. New York scored a deciding second goal in the 29th minute when Sofo crossed a free kick into the box to defender Juan Gutierrez who headed a shot into the bottom left corner of the net. Red Bulls II held on to earn a 2-1 victory.
