New York is third in the Eastern Conference after securing two points via a 5-3 penalty shootout win against FC Cincinnati 2 at MSU Soccer Park on September 13. After conceding in the later stages of the first half, substitute forward Christian Gallagher scored in the 81st minute. During the penalty kick shootout, goalkeeper Tobias Szewczyk saved Cincinnati’s first penalty while the Red Bulls scored all five of their attempts en route to clinching a spot in the playoffs.
Huntsville is in 11th place in the Eastern Conference and have won three of their last four matches away from home. They were last in action on September 13, where they won 4-1 at Inter Miami CF II.
This will be the lone meeting between the two clubs in the regular season. In the last matchup between the two sides on September 13, 2025, the Red Bulls picked up the three points in a 3-2 away win. Winger Dennis Nelich scored in the match and was named MLS NEXT Pro Rising Star of Matchweek 27.
Following Sunday’s match, Red Bulls II will begin preparations for the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Cup playoffs. The side are looking to become the first club in league history to repeat as champions.
