New York is sixth in the Eastern Conference after securing a 5-1 victory against Toronto FC II at MSU Soccer Park on Sunday, August 23. Forward Dennis Gjengaar scored two first half goals to help the home side enter halftime with the lead. In the second half, wingers Andy Rojas and Dennis Nelich and substitute forward Christian Gallagher added goals to secure the three points heading into the Tri-State rivalry matchup.
Connecticut is in third place in the Eastern Conference and have won six of their last eight matches at home. They were last in action on August 23, where they pulled off a 4-2 victory at Philadelphia Union II.
This will be the third meeting between the two sides this season. The Coywolves won the previous two matchups, including a 2-1 home victory against the Red Bulls on July 19.
Nelich leads the active roster with two goal contributions against the Coywolves.
