MATCH RECAP: New York Red Bulls II Defeat Chattanooga FC, 5-2, at MSU Soccer Park

HARRISON, N.J. (June 15, 2025) - New York Red Bulls II (9-2-2, 30 pts) defeated Chattanooga FC (8-3-3, 29 pts), 5-2, at MSU Soccer Park on Sunday afternoon.

New York opened the scoring in the match in the 14th minute, when midfielder Rafael Mosquera played a ball down the line into the path of defender Matthew Dos Santos, who played a cross to the penalty spot and found the foot of Neuhen Benedetti,who struck a shot that hit the left post and found the back of the net.

Red Bulls II added a second in the 44th minute, when Benedetti whipped in a curling cross off of a direct free kick and found the head of defender Juan Gutierrez, who glanced the ball past the Chattanooga FC goalkeeper.

New York earned their third goal of the match in the third minute of first half stoppage time, when Benedetti gathered the ball around midfield and played a through ball into the path of Mosquera, who fired a left-footed shot to the far post and found the back of the net.

Red Bulls scored their fourth goal of the match in the 49th minute, when Mosquera was brought down in the eighteen-yard box and earned a penalty kick. Mosquera stepped up and converted his attempt into the bottom right corner.

Chattanooga FC answered back in the 56th minute, when they earned a penalty kick and Tate Robertson stepped up and converted his attempt to the bottom left corner.

Chattanooga FC grabbed a second goal in the 68th minute, when Robertson played a cross to the back post and found the head of Milo Garvanian, who redirected the ball towards goal and found the back of the net.

New York added a fifth goal in the 97th minute, when defender Curtis Ofori sent a low cross into the path of forward Tanner Rosborough, who tapped the ball in the back of the net.

Benedetti scored his fourth MLS NEXT Pro goal of the season and has now recorded a goal in three-straight matches.

· The Argentinian midfielder has recorded eight goal contributions in his last five MLS NEXT Pro appearances.

· Benedetti also tallied his fourth and fifth MLS NEXT Pro assists of the season and now leads the club.

· His five assists this season currently ranks tied for second in MLS NEXT Pro.

· Dos Santos tallied his first career MLS NEXT Pro assist and became the ninth youngest player in franchise history to record an assist at 17 years, 10 days old.

· Mosquera recorded his second MLS NEXT Pro assist of the season and the sixth of his career.

· The Panama international scored his third and fourth MLS NEXT Pro goals of the season and now has eight for his career.

· Mosquera recorded his first career multi-goal match of his career.

· Gutierrez scored his first MLS NEXT Pro goal of the season and the fourth of his career.

The Colombian defender now ranks tied for second place in franchise history for most goals scored by a defender (4) with Mandela Egbo.

Gutierrez made his 49th career start for the club and now ranks tied for eighth place in franchise history for most starts in club history with Dan Metzger.

Gutierrez also became the 15th different Red Bulls II player to score a goal this year, which ranks first in MLS NEXT Pro.

Rosborough tallied his first MLS NEXT Pro assist of the season and the fourth of his career.

Rosborough also added his fifth MLS NEXT Pro goal of the season and the 12th of his career. He is now tied for the team lead with Ibrahim Kasule.

The Pittsburgh, PA native also moved into eighth place in franchise history for most goals scored with 12, passing Florian Valot.

Ofori tallied his first MLS NEXT Pro assist of the season and the third of his career.

New York have scored 33 goals this season, which ranks first in MLS NEXT Pro.

Red Bulls II extended their winning streak to five-straight matches, which is the most for the club since 2018, which ran from October 6 to October 27.

New York also extended their home unbeaten streak to eight matches, which is the longest for the club since 2018-2019, the streak ran from August 21, 2018, to April 17, 2019.

Following Sunday’s match, Red Bulls II will travel to Truist Point Stadium to take on Carolina Core FC on Saturday, June 21. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage available on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
