MATCH RECAP: New York Red Bulls II Defeat Columbus Crew 2 1-0 at Historic Crew Stadium on Sunday Night

HARRISON, N.J. (May 25, 2025) - New York Red Bulls II (6-2-2, 21 pts.) defeated Columbus Crew 2 (2-3-1, 8 pts.), 1-0, on Sunday evening at Historic Crew Stadium.

New York scored the lone goal of the match in the 89th minute. Midfielder Andy Rojas made a lateral dribble and was taken down at the top of the box. Defender Matthew Dos Santos stepped up to take the free kicks and curled his attempt into the top right corner.

Dos Santos scored his second goal of the season, and his second from a free kick.

Defender Marcelo Morales made his first career MLS NEXT Pro start and appearance.

With the clean sheet today, Goalkeeper Aidan Stokes surpassed Alan Rutkowski for fifth-most career shutouts. The clean sheet is also New York’s second of the season, and second on the road.

Midfielder Ibrahim Kasule made his 51st start for the club and surpassed Vincent Bezecourt for eighth-most starts in club history.

Kasule made his 61st appearance for the club and passed Vincent Bezecourt for seventh-most appearance in franchise history.

With 90 minutes played today, the Buikwe, Uganda native surpassed O’Vonte Mullings for the eighth-most minutes played in club history.

Rojas drew five fouls on the day, which is the most he’s drawn this season.

Red Bulls II earned their third consecutive victory on the road against Crew 2 and are 3-0 all time at Historic Crew Stadium through MLS NEXT Pro play.

With a record of 6-2-2 and 21 points, New York have tied their best start through 10 games in club history. They last achieved this feat in 2016 going 6-1-3 for 21 points.
