Red Bull New York II (13-8-4, 44 pts.) defeats Connecticut United FC (13-10-2, 43 pts.) 4-2 on Saturday night at Knights Field.
Connecticut opened the scoring in the 16th minute when defender Andre Applewhaite found an unmarked Barnabás Tanyi as the forward slotted it home.
In the 61st minute, forward Roald Mitchell scored the equalizer despite a deflection from the defender.
Towards the latter stages of the first half, Connecticut thought they sealed the three points when midfielder Robbie Mora found Tanyi on the counterattack, who ultimately layed it off to forward Bryan Destin for the lead.
Three minutes later, forward Christian Gallagher and Mitchell produced a 1-2 combination as the substitute scored the tying goal.
Just two minutes later, after a mistake in the back by Connecticut’s defense, Mitchell ultimately scored the match-winning goal.
To seal the away victory, Gallagher played it out wide to winger Benny Rodriguez, who found the substitute again as the forward evaded the defense and secured his brace.
Mitchell scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season.
The Trinidadian international is third in the club this season for goals scored.
Gallagher found the back of the net for the seventh and eighth time this season.
The 18-year-old is the leading scorer for the club in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.
