After a mistake in the back from New York, midfielder David Poreba pounced on the loose ball and found forward Jason Shokalook as the home side took the lead just three minutes into the match.
Ten minutes later, defender Christopher Cupps delivered a long ball to a sprinting Shokalook, who cut back onto his left foot as the forward registered a brace.
As the second half commenced, Chicago took a three-goal lead after midfielder Damyan Villanueva’s through ball found substitute Dean Boltz as the forward scored from outside the box.
Midfielder Deven Cadigan wore the armband for the first time in his Red Bulls II career.
