HARRISON N.J. (May 17, 2026) - Red Bull New York II (7-1-2, 23 pts.) fall 3-2 to NYCFC II (3-4-2, 12 pts.) on Sunday night at MSU Soccer Park.
NYCFC II opened the scoring in the 57th minute. Winger Elhadji Samb played a ball near post into the six-yard box to defender Joao Loiola Santos who volleyed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
The visitors doubled their lead in 63rd minute. Midfielder Cooper Flax struck a right footed free kick from the top of the box into the top left corner of the net.
NYCFC II found a third in the 71st minute. Midfielder David Duque played a through ball to forward Ethadji Samb who placed a shot into the top left corner.
New York got on the scoresheet in the 74th minute, forward Christian Gallagher pounced on a header from an NYCFC II defender and brought the ball down with his chest and laced a right footed volley into the top left corner.
Red Bulls II scored a second goal in the 82nd minute. Winger Dennis Nelich played a lateral ball across the top of the box to midfielder Paul Sokoloff who struck a right footed shot into the bottom left corner.
Gallagher and Sokoloff each scored their second goal of the season.
Nelich provided his second assist of the season.
The winger has three goal contributions in his last four appearances.
Midfielder Sekou Kone made his first career MLS NEXT Pro start.
Midfielder Sean Baitinger made his MLS NEXT Pro debut, subbing into the match in the 80th minute.
