HARRISON N.J. (May 30, 2026) - Red Bull New York II (7-2-3, 25 pts.) secures the two points via penalty shootout win against Carolina Core FC (1-6-5, 9 pts.) on Saturday night at Truist Point Stadium.

In the 12th minute, midfielder Joyeux Masanka Bungi’s perfectly timed slide tackle found striker Mijahir Jimenez, who passed out wide to midfielder Benny Rodriguez as he slotted it home.

Seventeen minutes later, after some chaos in the back, Carolina’s Antonio Pineda found the equalizer.

After a 1-1 tie at the end of 90 minutes, Red Bulls II would prevail 6-5 in the penalty shootout, securing the two points away from home.

Rodriguez scored his second goal of the season.

Jimenez provided his third assist of the season.

The striker has accumulated five assists in his MLS NEXT Pro career.

Credited with the secondary assist, Masanka Bungi has provided two this season.

Defenders Joshua Munson and Caleb Simmons and winger Akheem Wilson made their MLS NEXT Pro debuts.

After securing the two points, New York snaps a two-match losing streak.

The Red Bulls have gone four matches unbeaten on the road.

With the draw, New York’s record against Carolina is 1-1-2.

The penalty shootout win was their first of the season after losing the previous two shootouts.
