New York Red Bulls II Defeat Carolina Core FC 2-1 at Truist Point Stadium

The New York Red Bulls II (10-2-2, 33 pts) defeated Carolina Core FC (3-4-6, 17 pts), 2-1, at Truist Point Stadium on Saturday night.

New York opened the scoring in the 16th minute when midfielder Rafael Mosquera laced a shot in the direction of forward Tanner Rosborough who gathered the ball and placed a shot into the bottom right corner.

Carolina equalized in the 39th minute. Defender Daniel Chica played a through ball to forward Glory Nzingo who hammered a shot into the bottom left corner.

Red Bulls II regained the lead in the 50th minute. Midfielder Ronald Donkor slipped a through ball to defender Curtis Ofori who crossed a ball onto the six-yard box. The cross was deflected by Carolina and midfielder Nehuen Benedetti placed a shot into the top right corner of the net.

Rosborough scored his sixth goal of the season and second in back-to-back matches.

Rosborough scored his 13th career goal and is tied with Derrick Etienne Jr and Mathias Jørgensen for eighth all-time leading goal scorer in club history.

Benedetti has scored a goal in four consecutive matches and has seven goal contributions in his last four matches.

Mosquera dished out his third assist of the season and the fifth of his career. He has four goal contributions in his last three matches.

Defender Juan Gutierrez made his 50th career start for the club.

Ofori made his first start since September 1, 2024.

Subbing in the 35th minute, Goalkeeper Austin Causey made his second appearance of the season.

Head Coach Michael Bradley is the first head coach in club history to win their first match in charge.

New York have won six straight matches, which is the second-longest win streak in club history behind the 2016 side that won seven straight matches between August 2 to September 7.

Red Bulls II are the first team in MLS NEXT Pro this season to earn 10 wins.
