New York Red Bulls II Midfielder Andy Rojas Called Up to Costa Rica National Team Ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup

HARRISON, N.J. (June 3, 2025) – New York Red Bulls II midfielder Andy Rojas has been called up to Costa Rican National Team ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Rojas has started five of eight matches played this season with Red Bulls II. He began the season with a bang on Matchday 1, scoring his first career MLS NEXT Pro goal in a 1-0 win over Atlanta United 2 on March 7. The midfielder tallied his first career MLS NEXT Pro assist in a 4-1 victory against New England Revolution II on May 18.

The Grecia, Costa Rica native has made seven career appearances with the Costa Rica National Team, where he has scored one goal and two assists in 169 minutes played. He made his debut for Costa Rica on June 6, 2024, against Saint Kitts and Nevis in a 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match. He scored three minutes into his debut and became the youngest Costa Rican player to score in a World Cup Qualifier at 18 years, 184 days old. He made his first career start for the national team against United States in an international friendly match on January 23, 2025.

Rojas most recent appearance for Costa Rica was on March 26, 2025, where he subbed on and provided an assist in a 6-1 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup Qualifying win against Belize. The midfielder has also made six appearances for Costa Rica U-20 and U-23 sides, including four appearances at the 2024 U-20 CONCACAF Championships, where he recorded two goals and two assists.

Costa Rica will travel to BFA Technical Center Stadium in Barbados on Saturday, June 7 to face Bahamas in a 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier at 7:00 p.m. ET. They’ll return back to Costa Rica for a second qualifier against Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday, June 10 at National Stadium in La Sabana at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Costa Rica was drawn into Group A of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup. They’ll kick off group play on Sunday, June 15 at 11:00 p.m. ET at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California. On Matchday 2, Costa Rica will travel to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas to face Dominican Republic on Wednesday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m. ET. They’ll wrap up group play against Mexico at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, June 22 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
