HARRISON, N.J. (September 28, 2023) – New York Red Bulls II midfielder Ibrahim Kasule has been named to the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Best XI, the league announced today.

The midfielder just concluded his historic regular season in which he has set multiple records for both the club and the league. Those records included a seven-match goal scoring streak, a feat that had not been accomplished in MLS NEXT Pro previously. In addition, the Ugandan scored fifteen goals on the year, putting him into a tie with Brandon Allen (2016) and Jared Stroud (2019) for the most goals in a regular season in club history.

“I want to thank the coaching staff and my teammates for making it possible for me to earn this award,” Kasule explained in reaction to earning his award. “I am very happy to be named to the team of the year, but the focus is still on the next match in the Playoffs”.

Kasule has racked up the awards throughout the regular season as well. The 19-year-old earned consecutive MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Month honors for both July and August this season, making him the only player in the league to claim that award multiple times.

New York Red Bulls II are set to host the first round of the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs this Sunday against Chicago Fire FC II. Kickoff will be 1:00 p.m. ET at MSU Soccer Park and coverage will be available on MLS Season Pass with Apple TV.
