HARRISON, N.J. (June 16, 2025) – New York Red Bulls II named MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 14 the league announced today.
New York are coming off a convincing 5-2 victory against Chattanooga FC on June 15 at MSU Soccer Park to gain first place in the Eastern Conference. The five goals scored are tied for the most goals scored in a single match this season by Red Bulls II.
New York opened the scoring in the match in the 14th minute, when midfielder Rafael Mosquera played a ball down the line into the path of defender Matthew Dos Santos, who played a cross to the penalty spot and found the foot of Neuhen Benedetti who struck a shot that hit the left post and found the back of the net.
Red Bulls II added a second in the 44th minute, when Benedetti whipped in a curling cross off of a direct free kick and found the head of defender Juan Gutierrez, who glanced the ball past the Chattanooga FC goalkeeper.
New York earned their third goal of the match in the third minute of first half stoppage time, when Benedetti gathered the ball around midfield and played a through ball into the path of Mosquera, who fired a left-footed shot to the far post and found the back of the net.
Red Bulls scored their fourth goal in the 49th minute, when Mosquera was brought down in the eighteen-yard box and earned a penalty kick. Mosquera stepped up and converted his attempt into the bottom right corner.
New York added a fifth in the 97th minute, when defender Curtis Ofori sent a low cross into the path of forward Tanner Rosborough, who tapped the ball into the back of the net.
This is New York’s first MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Matchweek this season. They’ve previously earned two MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Matchweeks, with Julian Hall earning MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchweek 3, and Ibrahim Kasule winning Player of Matchweek 13. Goalkeeper Aidan Stokes also won May MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month.
Red Bulls II will be back in action on Saturday, June 21 when they travel to Truist Point Stadium to take on Carolina Core FC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage available on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
