HARRISON, N.J. (March 7, 2026) – Red Bull New York II have acquired Costa Rican winger Akheem Wilson on a one-year loan through the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season from Deportivo Saprissa pending visa and registration approval, the club announced today.
“Akheem is an exciting young attacker, that has dynamic dribbling abilities and athleticism,” Head Coach Dominik Wohlert said. “We are excited to have him join our front line and contribute to our attack.”
The 18-year-old winger has two appearances for Costa Rican Primera División side Deportivo Saprissa. He made his debut against AD Municipal Liberia on August 18, 2025. Wilson also has appeared in several matches for Saprissa U-20s.
On the international stage, the Limón, Costa Rica native has represented his country at the youth level. He scored two goals in four appearances with the U-17 Costa Rica National Team at the 2023 CONCACAF U-17 Championship. The winger scored his first goal with the group in a 4-0 Group Stage victory over U-17 Cuba on February 15, 2023. Wilson also scored a 90th minute equalizer in a Round of 16 match against U-17 Puerto Rico on February 19, 2023.
The Costa Rican international made his debut with U-20 Costa Rica in an international friendly match against U-20 USA on November 15, 2025.
